Text: Jeremiah 23:24
OT Text Referred to: 2 Chronicles 6:18
Subject: God fills heaven and earth
Source: Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Reference Type: Echo
Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme
Significance: Solomon's declaration that "heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You" (2 Chr 6:18) echoes Jeremiah 23:24's divine question: "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" (halo et-hashamayim ve-et-ha-arets ani male). Both texts affirm divine omnipresence against any notion that God can be localized in a single structure. Solomon uses this theology to establish the paradox of temple worship—prayer is directed toward the temple, but God hears "from heaven, Your dwelling place" (min-hashamayim). Jeremiah applies the same principle to rebuke false prophets who think they can hide from God.
