Significance: Both Ezekiel 36:23-24 and Psalm 106:47 express the hope that God will gather (קָבַץ, qavats) Israel from among the nations so that His holy name will be sanctified. Psalm 106:47 prays "Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name (שֵׁם קָדְשְׁךָ, shem qodshekha)," while Ezekiel 36:23 declares God will "sanctify My great name" (וְקִדַּשְׁתִּי אֶת־שְׁמִי הַגָּדוֹל, veqiddashti et-shemi haggadol) by gathering Israel from the nations. The psalmist's prayer is answered in Ezekiel's prophecy: God's motive for regathering is not Israel's merit but the vindication of His own name profaned among the nations through Israel's exile.
