Anchor Text: Ezek 36-37 — A New Heart and Dry Bones
Significance: Ezekiel 36:26 promises "I will give you a new heart (לֵב חָדָשׁ, lev chadash) and put a new spirit within you; I will remove the heart of stone (לֵב הָאֶבֶן, lev ha'even) and give you a heart of flesh (לֵב בָּשָׂר, lev basar)," restating and expanding the earlier promise of Ezekiel 11:19 which used nearly identical language. The inner-Ezekiel repetition reinforces this as a central theological commitment: internal transformation, not merely external restoration, is God's ultimate goal. Chapter 11 introduced this promise in the context of the glory departing the temple; chapter 36 anchors it in the broader program of cleansing with clean water (v. 25) and Spirit-empowered obedience (v. 27), creating the fullest prophetic vision of inward renewal.
