Significance: Jeremiah 49:9-10 and Obadiah 5-6 share virtually identical language about the completeness of Edom's devastation. Both use the grape-gatherer/thief comparison — even these leave remnants, but Edom will be stripped bare. Jeremiah 49:10 adds "I have stripped Esau bare; I have uncovered his hiding places" (גִּלֵּיתִי אֶת־מִסְתָּרָיו, gilleiti et-mistarav), while Obadiah 6 says "How Esau has been pillaged, his hidden treasures sought out." The shared vocabulary of stripping, hiding places, and complete exposure demonstrates close literary relationship. Both prophets emphasize that Edom's geographical security — its famous mountain fortresses — will provide no protection from divine judgment.
