Greek Key Terms:
Context: Revelation 7:9-10 provides a vision of the redeemed community in heaven. John sees "a multitude too large to count" (ὄχλος πολύς ὃν ἀριθμῆσαι αὐτὸν οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο)—fulfilling God's promise to Abraham of innumerable offspring (Gen 15:5). They come "from every nation and tribe and people and tongue" (ἐκ παντὸς ἔθνους καὶ φυλῶν καὶ λαῶν καὶ γλωσσῶν)—Babel's scattered nations reunited. Standing before the throne and the Lamb, they cry with unified voice: "Salvation to our God!" What Babel failed to achieve through pride—unified humanity reaching heaven—God accomplishes through grace.

Connections:
Christological Connection: Revelation 7:9-10 presents the ultimate Christ-centered reversal of Babel. (1) Before the Lamb: The nations stand "before the Lamb" (v. 9). Christ's sacrifice is the means of their gathering. What Adam's sin divided and Babel's rebellion scattered, the Lamb's blood purchases and reunites. (2) Salvation to Our God: The unified cry "Salvation to our God!" (v. 10) is a direct counter to Babel's "let us make a name for ourselves" (Gen 11:4). At Babel, humanity sought self-glory; in heaven, redeemed humanity gives all glory to God. (3) Purchased by Blood: Revelation 5:9 explains how this happens: "You were slain, and with Your blood You purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation." The cross reverses Babel. (4) One Voice, Many Tongues: The multitude cries "in a loud voice" (φωνῇ μεγάλῃ)—one voice from many languages. Unity in content while preserving diversity. (5) Tower vs. Throne: Babel built a tower to reach heaven; God brings the nations to His throne through the Lamb. Human ascent failed; divine descent (incarnation) and ascent (exaltation) succeeds.
Connection Method(s): Longitudinal Theme, Redemptive-Historical Progression — The innumerable multitude "from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue" crying "Salvation to our God!" consummates the entire Babel-reversal trajectory: what pride scattered, the Lamb's blood gathers; what confused lips divided, unified worship heals, completing the scattering-to-gathering arc of the redemptive narrative.
