Anchor Text: Gen 1:28 — The Adamic Commission
Significance: In the exaltation catena celebrating the Father's power "exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand," Paul declares "God put everything under His feet" — alluding to Psalm 8:6, which itself re-voices the dominion / subdue clause of Genesis 1:28. The Adamic mandate to have all things in subjection is applied to the risen and enthroned Christ, the Last Adam, who is then made "head over everything for the church." The dominion Adam was given and lost is now exercised by Christ on behalf of his body. This belongs to the Pauline exaltation catena (with 1 Cor 15:27 and Phil 3:21) that repeatedly applies the Adamic dominion via Ps 8 to the exalted Lord. Per the ATN §4 this is an allusion to Ps 8:6 LXX (Gen 1:28 mediated through Ps 8) functioning as typological fulfillment within the exaltation catena — the creation commission realized in the enthroned Christ for the sake of the church.
