Earlier text
Genesis 1:24BSB
And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so.
Recounting his vision, Peter names "four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air" (Acts 11:6) — the ordered ranks of the living creatures as God made them, when He said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds" (Genesis 1:24). The catalog recalls the goodness of creation, where every kind was pronounced good before ever a clean/unclean distinction was drawn. The vision's command to eat across all these kinds signals that the dietary boundary, imposed later as a pedagogy of holiness, does not belong to the created order itself and has now served its purpose. The connection stands in contrast to the Levitical divisions: what God originally made and called good, He again declares clean, and the fellowship of His people is opened to all the nations He created — for in Christ there is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) in which the old separations are reconciled.
