Significance

"From the descendants of this man, God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as He promised" (Acts 13:23). Paul's σωτήρ vocabulary inherits the LXX's rendering of the judges-era moshia ("deliverer," Judges 3:9 — Othniel, the first raised-up deliverer), so the verbal bridge from the deliverer-cycle is real; but Paul deploys it through Davidic descent and promise ("as He promised"; cf. Ps 89:29's enduring Davidic line, Isa 49:6's salvation to the ends of the earth), not through judge-succession. The judges are a stage in the progression (Acts 13:20), not types of Christ — Othniel is not typed to Jesus; the promise-fulfillment runs through David's offspring (per TT 089, which declines judge-typology).
