"God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: 'I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David'" (Acts 13:34, citing Isaiah 55:3 — "I will make with you an everlasting covenant, My loving devotion promised to David"). Paul's argument turns on the enduring, unfailing quality of these mercies: covenant blessings promised to an everlasting dynasty cannot be holy and sure if their heir remains in the grave. The resurrection is therefore the securing of the Davidic covenant — the loving devotion made irrevocable in the One who dies no more. The connection is promise-fulfillment grounded in the covenant: what God swore to David finds its guarantee not in a succession of mortal kings but in the risen, deathless Son of David. In Christ the everlasting covenant is sealed, and its sure blessings — forgiveness, the Spirit, life that does not see decay — flow to all who are His.
