The right hand of the LORD is exalted! The right hand of the LORD performs with valor!"
Having proclaimed the resurrection, Peter presses on to the exaltation: Jesus was “exalted to the right hand of God” and “received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,” which He then poured out (Acts 2:32-33). The language echoes the festal psalm’s triumphant cry, “The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD has done valiantly” (Psalm 118:16) — the same psalm whose rejected stone becomes the cornerstone (118:22). The right hand that acted valiantly in Israel’s deliverances now acts decisively in raising and enthroning Jesus. Crucially, Peter makes the outpoured Spirit the visible proof of an invisible enthronement: what the crowd sees and hears is the evidence that the crucified One now reigns. The ascended Christ’s first act from the throne is to give the Spirit — so that His exaltation is no withdrawal into heaven but the beginning of His reign among His people through the Spirit He sends.
