Later text

1 Chronicles 15:3BSB

And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.

Earlier text

Deuteronomy 12:26BSB

But you are to take your holy things and your vow offerings and go to the place the LORD will choose.

Significance

Deuteronomy 12:26 directs Israel to bring consecrated offerings and vow offerings to "the place the LORD will choose." David's gathering of all Israel to transfer the ark to Jerusalem (1 Chr 15:3) establishes the site toward which such offerings are to be directed. The Chronicler's emphasis on proper Levitical procedures during this transfer demonstrates that David's centralization of worship at Jerusalem follows Mosaic norms for both the location and the manner of approaching God's presence.
