Significance
Both 2 Chronicles 10:16 and 1 Kings 12:16 preserve the northern tribes' secessionist cry: "What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of Jesse? To your tents, O Israel!" (mah-lanu cheleq be-David). This cry echoes the earlier rebellion of Sheba son of Bicri (2 Sam 20:1), who used nearly identical language. The repetition of this anti-Davidic slogan across three texts (2 Sam 20, 1 Kgs 12, 2 Chr 10) shows it functioning as a formulaic expression of northern tribal independence sentiment.

Redemptive-Historical Progression — the Chronicler reproduces verbatim Kings' record of the secession cry ("What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of Jesse?"), carrying forward the canonical account of the northern tribes' repudiation of the Davidic house — the house through which God had pledged the kingship that comes to rest on Christ.
