2 Kings 9:27BSB
When King Ahaziah of Judah saw this, he fled up the road toward Beth-haggan. And Jehu pursued him, shouting, "Shoot him too!" So they shot Ahaziah in his chariot on the Ascent of Gur, near Ibleam, and he fled to Megiddo and died there.
Both texts record Jehu's killing of Ahaziah, but with differing details about the location and circumstances. In 2 Kings 9:27, Ahaziah flees toward Beth-haggan and is struck by Jehu's men at the ascent of Gur near Ibleam, dying at Megiddo. In 2 Chronicles 22:7-9, Ahaziah is found hiding in Samaria, brought to Jehu, and killed. The Chronicler adds the theological verdict: "Ahaziah's downfall came from God" (מֵאֱלֹהִים, me'Elohim), interpreting the political assassination as divine judgment for his alliance with the house of Ahab.
