Later text

2 Chronicles 32:32-33BSB

As for the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his deeds of loving devotion, they are indeed written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel. And Hezekiah rested with his fathers and was buried in the upper tombs of David's descendants. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death. And his son Manasseh reigned in his place.

Earlier text

2 Kings 20:20-21BSB

As for the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, along with all his might and how he constructed the pool and the tunnel to bring water into the city, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And Hezekiah rested with his fathers, and his son Manasseh reigned in his place.

Significance

These are parallel regnal summaries for Hezekiah. Both record his death, burial, and Manasseh's succession. Kings uniquely mentions the Siloam tunnel ("the pool and the tunnel"), while Chronicles uniquely notes that Hezekiah was buried "in the upper tombs of David's descendants" and "all Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death" (2 Chr 32:33). This exceptional burial honor — placement in the upper, most prestigious tombs — reflects the Chronicler's high evaluation of Hezekiah. Both cite written records as sources: Kings references "the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah," Chronicles cites "the vision of the prophet Isaiah."

Connection Method(s)
Redemptive-Historical Progression — The regnal summary of 2 Kings 20:20-21 (annals, death, Manasseh's succession) is taken up and enlarged by 2 Chronicles 32:32-33, which adds burial "in the upper tombs of David's descendants" and the honor paid by "all Judah and the people of Jerusalem"; the Chronicler carries Kings' closing formula forward into an honored-Davidic-king portrait that keeps the line of promise in view as the history moves toward its true King.
