Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: "The LORD, the LORD God, is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,
Solomon's address to God as the one "keeping Your covenant of loving devotion" (chesed) in 2 Chronicles 6:14 echoes the foundational divine self-revelation at Sinai in Exodus 34:6, where the LORD passes before Moses proclaiming Himself "abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness" (rav-chesed ve-emet). Both texts center on God's chesed as the basis for the divine-human relationship. Solomon's temple prayer invokes this Sinai-revealed character of God as the ground of confidence that the LORD will hear prayers directed toward the temple—the new locus of divine presence that continues the Sinai encounter.
