As for you, however, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.
Significance
Numbers 14:32 pronounces wilderness death on the rebellious generation. Psalm 106:24 provides the theological diagnosis: "They despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His promise." The psalmist identifies two linked failures: despising (מָאַס, ma'as) the land and disbelieving God's promise. These are not separate sins but a single act of covenant rejection -- refusing to trust that God could deliver what He had sworn to give. The psalm's confessional context shows later Israel recognizing in their ancestors' failure a mirror of their own tendency toward unbelief.

Redemptive-Historical Progression — the verdict "your bodies will fall in this wilderness" (Num 14:32) is interpreted by Psalm 106:24 as a single act of covenant rejection — despising the land and disbelieving the word — recited in later liturgy so that the wilderness generation's end presses the worshiping generation toward faith in the promise God still keeps in Christ.
