Significance

Deuteronomy 3:26 records Moses's plea to enter the land and God's refusal: "the LORD was angry with me on account of you." Psalm 106:32-33 retells this episode in liturgical confession: "At the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them; for they rebelled against His Spirit, and Moses spoke rashly with his lips." Both texts assign responsibility to the people's provocation while acknowledging Moses's personal failure. The psalmist adds the interpretive detail that Israel "rebelled against His Spirit" (הִמְרוּ אֶת רוּחוֹ, himru et rucho), deepening the theological analysis beyond Deuteronomy's simpler account of divine anger.

Connection Method(s)
Redemptive-Historical Progression — the refused plea of Deuteronomy 3:26 is confessed in Psalm 106:32-33, which adds the interpretive layer that Israel "rebelled against His Spirit," the liturgical retelling advancing the Meribah tradition and pressing beyond a mediator broken by the people's rebellion toward the One who was not.
