Later text

Jeremiah 29:13-14BSB

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and places to which I have banished you, declares the LORD. I will restore you to the place from which I sent you into exile."

Earlier text

2 Chronicles 15:2BSB

So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

Significance

Both texts articulate the principle that wholehearted seeking of God results in being found by Him. Jeremiah 29:13 promises "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart" (בְּכָל־לְבַבְכֶם, bekhol-levavkhem), while 2 Chronicles 15:2 declares "The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you" (אִם־תִּדְרְשֻׁהוּ יִמָּצֵא לָכֶם, im-tidreshuhu yimmatse lakhem). Both use the verb דָּרַשׁ (darash, "to seek") paired with מָצָא (matsa, "to find") to express the covenantal reciprocity between divine availability and human earnestness. Jeremiah applies this principle to exiles in Babylon, assuring them that God can be found even in a foreign land, while the Chronicler applies it to Asa's reform — showing this as an enduring covenant principle spanning Israel's history. 2 Chronicles 15:2 carries the verse's full warning as well: "but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you"—the reciprocity cutting both ways.

Connection Method(s)
Analogy — the same דָּרַשׁ/מָצָא seek-and-find principle is applied in two parallel settings (the exiles in Babylon; Asa's reform); the pair demonstrates parallel witness to one covenant principle, not a traced development, so Analogy rather than Longitudinal Theme is the demonstrated method.
