Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will administer justice and righteousness in the land.
Jeremiah 33:14 promises "I will fulfill the good word I spoke to the house of Israel," referring directly to the "righteous Branch" (צֶמַח צַדִּיק, tsemach tsaddiq) oracle of Jeremiah 23:5. The earlier oracle promises a Davidic king who will "reign wisely" and "administer justice and righteousness," while 33:14-22 expands this promise by pairing the Davidic Branch with a permanent Levitical priesthood and grounding both in the cosmic order. This inner-Jeremianic development shows the prophet building upon his own earlier oracle, adding the priestly dimension and the nature-covenant guarantee. The cross-reference demonstrates Jeremiah's own literary strategy of progressive elaboration within his prophetic corpus.
