Ezekiel 37:24-28BSB

My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow My ordinances and keep and observe My statutes. They will live in the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They will live there forever with their children and grandchildren, and My servant David will be their prince forever. And I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary among them forever. My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be My people. Then the nations will know that I the LORD sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is among them forever.'"

Significance

Ezekiel 37:24-28 draws extensively on the covenant blessings of Leviticus 26. The promise "I will be their God, and they will be My people" (37:27) echoes the covenant formula of Leviticus 26:12 (וְהָיִיתִי לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים וְאַתֶּם תִּהְיוּ־לִי לְעָם). The placement of God's מִשְׁכָּן (mishkan, "dwelling") among them (37:27) directly parallels Leviticus 26:11 (וְנָתַתִּי מִשְׁכָּנִי בְּתוֹכְכֶם). However, Ezekiel adds the critical qualifier "forever" (לְעוֹלָם, le'olam)—the Sinai covenant's conditional blessings become permanent under the new covenant arrangement, secured through the Davidic shepherd and the internal transformation promised in chapter 36.

A note on the link's strength: the dwelling/covenant formula taken by itself is a commonplace covenant formula, but Ezekiel 37:26-27 reuses the Leviticus 26 blessing block in its own sequence. Leviticus 26:9 joins God's multiplying of His people to the establishing of His covenant, 26:11 sets His dwelling place among them, and 26:12 gives the covenant formula; Ezekiel 37:26 likewise joins the covenant to multiplying them and sets God's sanctuary among them, and 37:27 closes with the dwelling place and the same formula. The pairing of covenant with multiplying is rare in Scripture (Genesis 17:2 shares it, but has no dwelling-among sequel), so Leviticus 26 is the natural donor and the tie stands at allusion-strength (compare Ezekiel 34, which also redeploys Leviticus 26). The trajectory tables that cite this pair hold it as a supporting/thematic link as a judgment of weight, with the formula's canonical head at Exodus 25:8.
