The LORD will never be willing to forgive him. Instead, His anger and jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse written in this book will fall upon him. The LORD will blot out his name from under heaven and single him out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

Significance

Daniel 9:13 states "Just as it is written in the Law of Moses (כַּאֲשֶׁר כָּתוּב בְּתוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה, ka'asher katuv betorat Mosheh), all this disaster has come upon us." This formula explicitly identifies the exile as the fulfillment of the curses in Deuteronomy 29:20-21, where every אָלָה (alah, "curse/oath") written in the book would fall on covenant violators. Daniel's confession demonstrates how exilic-era prayer functioned: reading present historical circumstances through the lens of Mosaic covenant stipulations, and recognizing God's faithfulness not only in blessing but in the execution of the covenant's curse sanctions against unfaithfulness.
