and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands attended Him, and myriads upon myriads stood before Him. The court was convened, and the books were opened. Then I kept watching because of the arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was removed, but they were granted an extension of life for a season and a time. Significance
Christ appears as kingly, priestly, and judicial figure, with divine attributes of the Ancient of Days transferred to the Son of Man. This unprecedented fusion identifies Jesus with YHWH as eternal judge. The imagery evokes Daniel 10's heavenly messenger who revealed judgment decrees (Dan 10:21-12:13), positioning Christ as revealer and executor of divine judgment. The composite portrait establishes Christ's authority over the churches and His role as coming judge.
