For you have not yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you.
Psalm 132:13-14 declares "For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home (מוֹשָׁב, moshav): 'This is My resting place (מְנוּחָה, menuchah) forever and ever.'" Deuteronomy 12:9 anticipates this choice: "For you have not yet come to the resting place (מְנוּחָה, menuchah) and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you." The shared term menuchah connects Moses's forward-looking promise of a permanent worship site to its fulfillment in God's election of Zion. Deuteronomy envisions a place God "will choose" to put His name; Psalm 132 celebrates that the choice has been made — Zion is that resting place, now identified and permanently designated. The menuchah motif reaches beyond mere land-possession to a settled dwelling where God and His people dwell together, tying Zion's election to the Davidic covenant.
