And Rehoboam came unto Shechem, for unto Shechem came all Israel to give reign to him.
And it came to pass when heard ( for he was in Egypt, as he fled from of Solomon the king, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt,) that Jeroboam returned from out of Egypt.
And they sent and called him. And Jeroboam came, and all the assembly of Israel, and they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
Your father hardened our yoke; and now, you lighten from the servitude and from yoke which he put upon us! and we will serve to you.
And he said to them, Go until three days, and to me! And went forth
And brought together the elders of the ones standing before Solomon his father during his life, saying, How do you counsel to answer to this people
And they spoke to him, saying, If in today you should be for good this people, and you should please them, and should speak to them words then they will be to you all the days.
And he forsook the counsel of the elders, the ones advising to him, and he was advised by the young men of the ones being brought up with him, of the ones standing before him.
And he said to them, What do you this people who spoke to me, saying, Spare us from the yoke of which put upon us?
And said saying, Thus shall you speak to the people, to the one speaking to you, saying, Your father oppressed our yoke, and you now lighten from our yoke! Thus you shall say to them, small the loin of my father.
And now my father inserted to you yoke but I will add upon your yoke. My father corrected you with whips, but I will correct you with scorpions.
And Jeroboam came and all the people to Rehoboam on the day as said saying, Return to me on the day
And answered hard; and abandoned the counsel of the elders.
And he spoke to them according to the counsel of the younger men, saying, My father oppressed your yoke, and I will add upon it. My father corrected you with whips, and I will correct you with scorpions.
And did not the people. For he was converted from God, that his word, which he spoke by of Ahijah the Shilonite concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat.
And all Israel saw that did not to them. And answered to the king, saying, What portion with David, and with of Jesse? Run to your tents, O Israel! Now look to your own house, David! And went to its tents.
And of Israel dwelling in of Judah, reigned
And sent Hadoram, the one over the tribute. And stoned with stones, and he died. And king Rehoboam hastened to ascend into the chariot to flee unto Jerusalem.
And Israel annulled allegiance to the house of David until this day.
