And it came to pass the fourteenth year of the reigning of Hezekiah, ascended upon the cities and took them.
And sent Rabshakeh from Lachish unto Jerusalem to king Hezekiah with force And he stood by the aqueduct of the pool in the way of the field of the fuller.
And there came forth to him, Eliakim, the Hilkiah the manager, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the Asaph, the recorder.
And said Speak to Hezekiah! Thus says the king of the Assyrians. What are you relying on?
Does by And now, upon whom are you relying that you resist my persuasion?
Behold, you are relying upon rod upon Egypt; which if should stay his weight upon it, it shall enter into his hand, and shall puncture it. Thus is Pharaoh king of Egypt, and all the ones relying upon him.
And if you should say, Upon our God we rely on. not whom Hezekiah removed his high places, and his altars, and told Judah and Jerusalem, In front of this altar do obesiance now!
But mix in with my master the king of the Assyrians, and I will give to you two thousand horses, if you are able to put riders upon them.
And how are you all able to turn to of the toparchs? our servants
And now, without upon this place to wage war with it? said to me, Ascend upon this land, and utterly destroy it!
And said to Rabshakeh, Speak indeed to your servants in Syriac! for we hear ourselves; and do not speak to us in Jewish! For why do you speak unto the ears of the men standing upon the wall?
And said Is it to your master, or to you sent to speak these words? Is it not to the men, the ones sitting upon the wall, that they should eat their dung and drink their urine with you together?
And Rabshakeh stood and yelled out voice in Jewish, and said, Hearken to indeed the words of the king of the Assyrians!
Thus says the king, Do not let deceive with words! in no way shall he be able to rescue you.
And do not let say that, shall rescue and in no way shall be delivered into of the king of the Assyrians.
Do not hearken to Hezekiah! Thus says the king of the Assyrians, If you want to be blessed, come forth to me! and you shall eat of his own grapevine and fig-trees, and shall drink water from out of his own well;
until whenever I should come and should take you into a land as your land; a land of grain, and wine, and bread loaves, and vineyards.
Let not deceive saying, God shall rescue us. rescued his own place from out of of the king of the Assyrians?
Where is the god of Hamath and Arpad? And where god of the city of Sepharvaim? they been able to rescue Samaria from out of my hand?
Which of the gods of all these nations was rescued of his land from out of my hand, that shall rescue Jerusalem from out of my hand?
And they kept silent, and no one answered him a word by the assignment of the king, saying, No one is to answer.
And entered and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah, having split inner garments. And they announced to him the words of Rabshakeh.
