The LORD's verdict on Ezekiel's audience: 'you are to them as the sound of a sweet-voiced, well-tuned psaltery — and they shall hear your words, and in no way shall they do them' (Ezekiel 33:31-32) — the prophet reviewed as a concert, judgment enjoyed as repertoire. Qoheleth on what corruption costs the corrupt: 'extortion drives the wise man mad, and destroys his noble heart' (Ecclesiastes 7:7) — the bribe's deepest casualty is not the victim's purse but the taker's nobility; a heart bred for generosity gone feral. Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Verb — to be approved, in good standing; here 'as approved, in full' (εὖ + δόκιμος, approved). The steward's absolution at Joseph's door: 'Kindness to you — do not fear. - as approved

Scripture never treats cheer as ornament: 'the joy of the LORD is your strength' (Nehemiah 8:10), and the Physician's first prescription is habitually 'take heart' (Matthew 9:2, 22).
- to be in good health
- to thrive bodily
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Proverbs 17:22 (a heart being glad makes for good health; but of a distressed man the bones are dried).

The discipline-proverb's surprising telos: 'correct your son, for thus he will be of good hope — but do not lift up your soul to insult' (Proverbs 19:18) — chastening aimed not at the parent's vindication but at the child's hope, correction calibrated to produce confidence, never contempt. Hebrews reads all fatherly discipline this way: 'for our profit, that we might partake of His holiness... afterward the peaceable fruit' (Hebrews 12:10-11; Ephesians 6:4).
- of good hope
- confident

The jeweler's proverb: 'in a gold earring a very costly sardius is bound — so a wise word to a heedful ear' (Proverbs 25:12) — the setting completes the stone; counsel's worth is realized only in an ear prepared to wear it. Half of wisdom is the hearing of it: 'let the wise one hear, and he will add to his learning' (Proverbs 1:5; Luke 8:18 — 'take heed how you hear').
- heedful
- readily hearing
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Proverbs 25:12 (in an ear-ring of gold a very costly sardius is bound; so a wise word to a heedful ear).

εὐθαλέω (euthaleō)
(ev-thah-LEH-o)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Verb — to thrive, flourish luxuriantly (εὖ + θάλλω, to bloom). Nebuchadnezzar's own preface to his humbling: 'I, Nebuchadnezzar, was prospering in my house, and thriving upon my throne' (Daniel 4:4) — the memoir's first-person calm before the dream, the flourishing that made the warning necessary. Twelve months of patience later the boast comes and the reason leaves (Daniel 4:29-33); the restored king's conclusion is the chapter's point: 'the ones walking in pride He is able to abase' (Daniel 4:37).
- to thrive
- to flourish
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Daniel 4:4 (I Nebuchadnezzar was prospering in my house, and thriving upon my throne).
G2110.5
εὐθαλής (euthalēs)
(ev-thah-LEES)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — flourishing, luxuriant (εὖ + θάλλω, to bloom). From the dream-tree's description as Daniel repeats it to its subject: 'its leaves flourishing, and its fruit abundant, and nourishment for all in it... it is you, O king' (Daniel 4:21-22) — the flourishing itself is real, sheltering beasts and birds; the sentence falls on the root's pride, not the leaves' usefulness. The stump is banded, not burned (Daniel 4:26, 'your kingdom shall be kept for you, from when you know that the heavens rule') — flourishing restored on the far side of humbling.
- flourishing
- luxuriant
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Daniel 4:21 (and its leaves flourishing, and its fruit abundant, and a nourishment to all by it).

(ev-kah-tah-FRO-nee-tos)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — easily despised, contemptible (εὖ + καταφρονέω, to despise). The sentence on mountain-proud Edom: 'behold, I have appointed you to be small among nations, despicable among men' — the eagle-nest brought down by decree, in the same words Obadiah heard (Jeremiah 49:15-16; Obadiah 2-4, 'though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down'). Self-exaltation books its own demotion (Luke 14:11).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — of good fame, renowned, glorious (εὖ + κλέος, fame). The dirge-line over Moab's power: 'all you knowing his name, say: O how the renowned staff is broken — the rod of magnificence!' (Jeremiah 48:17) — the famous scepter snapped mid-ceremony, neighbors summoned to recite the past tense of a reputation. Renown that grows against the LORD keeps a breaking-date (Jeremiah 48:26); the unbreakable rod belongs elsewhere (Psalm 110:2).
- renowned
- of good fame
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Jeremiah 48:17 (all seeing his name, say: O how the renowned staff is broken, the rod of magnificence!).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Verb — to put out good vine-branches, run to luxuriant tendrils (εὖ + κλῆμα, vine-branch — the 'branch' word of John 15:4-5). Hosea's vine-audit: 'Israel is a grapevine with goodly branches, her fruit prospering — according to the multitude of her fruits she multiplied the altars' (Hosea 10:1) — fruitfulness itself the fuel of apostasy, every good harvest funding another idol-pillar. The vine that spent its increase on other gods sets up the vineyard-songs' grief (Isaiah 5:1-4) and the true Vine's claim: fruit that remains grows only by abiding (John 15:1-5, 16).
- to branch luxuriantly
- to put out good tendrils
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Hosea 10:1 (Israel is a grapevine having good vine branches, her fruit prospering; according to the multitude of her fruits he multiplied the altars).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — easy, agreeable, well-tempered (εὖ + κόλον; the classical opposite of δύσκολος, hard to please). Absalom's gate-craft: 'behold, your words are good and agreeable — but there is no one hearing you from the king' (2 Samuel 15:3) — every plaintiff flattered, every case 'good,' and the throne's absence inserted like a splinter, 'and Absalom stole the heart of the men of Israel' (2 Samuel 15:6). Flattery plus manufactured grievance is the oldest usurper's kit; the true King's gate stands open without it (2 Samuel 15:4; Psalm 72:12-14).
- agreeable
- well-tempered
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: 2 Samuel 15:3 (behold, your words are good and well-tempered; but there is no one hearing you from the king).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — well-spoken, fluent, glib (εὖ + λαλέω, to speak). (Job 11:2) — eloquence mistaken for righteousness, the debate's standing temptation on both sides of Job's ash heap. The verdict-scene inverts it: the glib comforters need Job's sacrifice and prayer, 'for you have not spoken rightly before me as my servant Job has' (Job 42:7-8; Matthew 12:37).
- well-spoken

Where the MT reads a 'perverse' tongue, the LXX reads a turning one: speech that shifts with the audience. (EV-skee-os)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adjective — well-shaded, casting good shade (εὖ + σκιά, shadow). The name the LORD Himself gave: 'a beautiful olive tree, well-shaded to the sight, the LORD called your name; at the sound of its lopping, a fire was lit upon it, and her tender branches were made useless' (Jeremiah 11:16) — the covenant tree named for the shelter it gave, then burned for the covenant it broke. Paul stands in this orchard when he warns the grafted branches: 'do not be arrogant... God did not spare the natural branches' (Romans 11:20-21).
- well-shaded
- shady
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Jeremiah 11:16 (a beautiful olive tree, well-shaded to the sight, the LORD called your name; at the sound of its being lopped a fire was lit unto it, and her tender branches were made useless).

εὐσταθέω (eustatheō)
(ev-stah-THEH-o)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Verb — to be stable, settled, at ease (εὖ + ἵστημι-family, standing well); participle here of Kedar in the sword-oracle: 'rise up and ascend upon a stable nation, sitting down at ease, which has no doors nor bars — they rest alone.' The security is the target: no walls invited the raid (Jeremiah 49:32). Settledness without defenses before God is the posture the prophets keep flagging (Ezekiel 38:11; Zephaniah 1:12) — 'while they are saying, Peace and safety' (1 Thessalonians 5:3).
- to be settled
- to be at ease
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Jeremiah 49:31 (rise up and ascend upon a stable nation, one sitting down for respite, which has no doors nor bars — alone they rest up).
G2155.2
εὐστόχως (eustochōs)
(ev-STO-khos)
Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Adverb — with good aim, on target (εὖ + στόχος, mark). The arrow that ended Ahab: 'a man stretched tight a bow with good aim, and struck the king of Israel between the lungs and the chest plate.' The Hebrew says the opposite — he drew 'in his simplicity,' at random (2 Chronicles 18:33 MT); the Greek names what the randomness concealed. Both are true: aimless to the archer, aimed by the God whose word through Micaiah the disguised king was fleeing (2 Chronicles 18:16, 34) — no disguise outmaneuvers a decreed arrow.
- with good aim
- accurately
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: 2 Chronicles 18:33 (and a man stretched tight a bow with good aim, and struck the king of Israel between the lungs and between the chest plate).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Noun — adroitness, quick versatility (εὖ + στρέφω, to turn — turning well, where the fickle tongue of Proverbs 17:20 turns badly). Court wisdom: 'an intelligent servant is acceptable to a king, and by his own versatility he removes dishonor' — the gift of turning a situation before it hardens against him. Scripture's exemplars are Abigail meeting David armed with speed and sense (1 Samuel 25:18-33) and the counsel 'a word fitly spoken' (Proverbs 25:11).
- adroitness
- versatility
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Proverbs 14:35 (an intelligent officer is acceptable to a king, and by his own versatility he removes dishonor).

The close of a LXX counsel absent from the Hebrew of Proverbs 25:10: 'favor and friendship set free... but keep your ways conciliatory.' The whole passage urges settling with a neighbor rather than airing the quarrel (Proverbs 25:8-9) — the road Jesus commands: 'agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him on the way' (Matthew 5:25).
- easily reconciled
- conciliatory
Septuagint usage
1 occurrence in the LXX Reference interlinear: Proverbs 25:10 (favor and friendship free — keep them for yourself, that you should not be reviled; but keep your ways conciliatory).

The variable is not the seeker's brains but his address; 'the mocker seeks wisdom and finds none' stands one clause earlier (Proverbs 14:6a; James 1:5 gives the open counter-offer).
- easy
- ready at hand

Adjective — marked with a whitish spot or tetter, blemished on the surface (ἐπί + ἧλος, a nail-head or callus-spot; the ABP glosses 'peeling'). One item in the list of blemishes barring a priest from approaching to offer: 'or humpback, or spotted, or hairless of the eyes...' (Leviticus 21:20-21). The law taught by exclusion what only one Priest would embody by nature: 'holy, innocent, undefiled' (Hebrews 7:26) — and then taught mercy's counterpoint, for the blemished priest still ate the holy bread (Leviticus 21:22).

Definition
Septuagint (Apostolic Bible Polyglot) extension number — a Greek OT word absent from the NT Strong's list. Verb — to patrol, survey, go over a route (ἐπί + ὁδός, way); imperative here. Moses' retelling of the spy mission's origin: 'you all came forward to me and said, Send men before us, and let them survey the land for us, and bring back word of the way by which we shall go up.' Deuteronomy remembers the reconnaissance as the people's request, not God's — the survey that returned with good fruit and a bad report (Deuteronomy 1:25-28), and cost the generation the land it scouted (Hebrews 3:19).
- to survey
- to explore a route
